Our Mission
Aya Inc. is a nonprofit that empowers young women through leadership training and mentorship. Our dual-mentorship model pairs African American professional women with Howard undergraduates, who in turn mentor high school students at the Benning Road Boys and Girls Club in Washington, D.C. The program offers a curriculum of leadership, entrepreneurship, and professional development activities rooted in sisterhood, self-reflection, and support for both high school and undergraduate participants.
Aya Inc. has a profound impact on young women of color by providing mentorship, leadership development, and professional preparation. High school students gain clarity on college and career pathways, develop critical life skills, and strengthen self-awareness and resilience. Undergraduate students deepen leadership abilities, professional competencies, and networks. Emphasizing self-reflection, sisterhood, and empowerment, the program fosters a supportive community where participants navigate academic and professional challenges with confidence. Serving 30 undergraduates and 50 high school students annually, and over 1,000 alumni across Washington, D.C., Aya Inc. equips the next generation of leaders to pursue their goals boldly, make informed decisions, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
